What is a hero?

“Christ died that I might live.”

That’s not a metaphor. That’s the direct exchange.

We use the phrase “They saved my life” every day. In moments of bravery. In acts of heroism. But the truth is, they only prolonged it. Death is still coming. The curse promised that.

But Romans says that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

He saved my life. But more than that, He saved my eternity.

He didn’t wait for a better version of me. He stepped in for the worst version.

His life for mine.
His obedience for my rebellion.
His righteousness for my guilt.

When He died to sin, He died once for all. When He rose, He didn’t just defeat death. He secured life.

Real life. New life. Alive in Christ.

I didn’t earn it. I don’t sustain it. I stand in it.

He died that I might live. That’s the whole thing.

I was the damsel. Christ was the Hero.

He saved me.
